今日(きょう)は、学校(がっこう)に行(い)くはずでしたが、風邪(かぜ)をひいたので休(やす)みました。

kyou wa, gakkou ni iku hazu deshita ga, kaze o hiita node yasumimashita.

as for today – school – to – go – supposed to – but – cold – came down with – therefore – rested

I was supposed to go to school today, but I caught a cold and stayed home.
